This gift card and trophy will be awarded to a Secondary School Senior Band. It is in memory of Mr. Bill Askew, a long time member of the Sydenham Kiwanis Club and supporter of the Festival. Bill conducted The Oshawa Civic Band for many years with concerts in the Memorial Park Band Shell.

A scholarship in the amount of $300.00 will be awarded in memory of Dr. J.N. Lowes, the first chairman of he Music Festival, to an Elementary School Senior Band upon the recommendation of the Adjudicator(s). Competition is based on two selections of musical contrast of the competitor's own choice or test piece that has been performed at one of the Sessions of the current Festival.
